This is the most useful thing you can send us. Three things make it actionable:

1. The page address where the number appears
2. What it shows and what you believe it should be
3. Your source, ideally the SSA file or table you checked against

If we introduced the error in processing, we fix it and note what changed. If our figure matches SSA and SSA is wrong, we cannot change that and will point you to the agency.

Some differences are the rules working as intended rather than errors. Overall rankings combine the boys' and girls' files, so a name used for both sexes ranks higher overall than in either list. State lists omit any name with fewer than five occurrences in that state and year, which is an SSA privacy rule, not a zero. Both are documented on the methodology page.

The underlying counts are public domain and belong to the Social Security Administration. If you are quoting a number in an article or paper, cite SSA. If you are reusing something we built on top of it, such as a rank history, a regional breakdown, or a chart, cite NameRanky as well.

Every name page has an embed snippet at the bottom for the rank chart, with attribution built in. Bulk automated scraping is restricted by the terms; if you need a dataset for research, ask and we will usually just send it.

Partnership and advertising questions, feature suggestions, and requests to add a country all go to the same address. On new countries: we only add a country when its government publishes the data as a primary source. Rankings built on private samples do not meet that bar, so we leave them out even when they are the only thing available for a country.
